It was a historic night in Nebraska Chess when Hall of Famer Rich Chess made his triumphant return to tournament play at the 8th Spence Quick. In his first tournament in 25+ years Chess (his real name!) scored 4.0/5 to claim a share of first place along with John Hartmann. Only Rene Opavsky was able to stop the rampaging Chess by defeating him in the final round.

Abhinav Suresh reached a new ratings high with his rampage through the 8th Spence Swiss. Between this tournament and the Maverick Open this weekend past, he is now 8/8 in his last eight rated games!

Joe Knapp and Mack Williams finished =2nd/3rd with 3/4. Steve Behrens and Scott Look split the U1700 prize, while Michael Lang took the U1400 money.
